The Album for Ruth and Scott has been uploaded :)
I cannot thank them enough for being so patient with the crazy wind that day. I took alot of shots that day to make sure eyes weren't watery, blinking or squinting due to wind and dust....also crazy flying hair. All in all it went really great, and Really happy with the shots.

Ruth and the Nursery

Almost time for Baby. I was stoked to find out while talking to Ruth that her and her husband are waiting to find out the sex of their baby. You don't hear about that much anymore and its always cool to find out someone is waiting to find out.

Baby Genevieve Preview 2

Well, I didn't want to leave people hanging. I'll be working on Baby G's photos this week, but wanted to at least have a preview shot that she was in :)
Ben, Maelynn, and Baby Genevieve did great. Shoot went great and it was nice and relaxed. This is a color shot, and there will be some monochrome shots too.

Baby Genevieve

Took photos of baby Genevieve today. Really relaxed and went really smooth. Huge thanks to Ben and Maelynn.

Hatcher Pass

My sister holly and husband Jeff are visiting my parents up in Alaska this Christmas. I'm super stoked for Jeff as he has never been to Alaska before and I hope they all have a great time. We were able to visit this last summer and thought I'd post a shot I got from the top of the mine at Independence mine, Hatcher Pass Alaska.
The original shot is huge. This is a 5 vertical shot panoramic from the top of the mine.

Maelynn Preview Shot

Here's a preview shot of Maelynn and her little bundle of joy. Maelynn and Ben are expecting Christmas day and with the rainy weather, we were thrilled we had a break in the rain to shoot before the baby arrives.  :)

Well, Its a perfect fit.
Took a few as he is a mover and was wondering what was going on as he had just woken up from a nap.
Probably wondering why I was sticking him in a wooden crate.

New Prop for Newborn shoots.

I am always looking for ideas on locations and prop ideas for shoots. I have recently shot a few maternity sessions and will be shooting the newborn sessions, and wanted some type of old apple crate for a cool baby in crate shot. I came across a very creative idea with some basic supplies from Joann fabrics and Home Depot, and I modified the design a little to make the crate look antique and weathered. The original Idea is by Sasha and you can find her blog at http://www.lemonademakinmama.com/ She has some really cool design ideas and she made some really cool crates for her kitchen.
(Here is the direct link to the crates she makes)
If you check out Sasha's crate, you'll see its very basic parts needed.
1. Wooden crate from Joann Fabrics  10.99
2. small chalk board (I bought the one that was a tad larger) 1.99
3. One quart of chalkboard paint(already had for other projects) 8.99
I subbed in the polyshade  for the cream paint.
4. One quart of Minwax Polyshade,  Mission Oak in Sattin 9.99

After gluing the chalkboard on and painting the grey chalkboard with nice black chalkboard paint, I
Began the staining and sealing. The crates are pine, and I purposely only sanded parts of the crate.
Anything rough will absorb more and show up darker.
I used a small, wide, chip brush and applied the polyshade and then used an old rag to even it all out. While the first coat was still tacky, I brushed on streaks  and then used the rag on them again. this gives it a nice weathered look.  You could also use different colors of the polyshade, but I thought the antique look
would be nice for baby sessions.

Sasha has another great tutorial on making some VERY cool weathered stools with 3 coats of different colored paint, and I think I may try the technique on a wooden crate soon.

Angela

Had a Maternity shoot today that went great. Husband is a friend from work and I was really happy to have had the chance to be the photographer for their first baby.

New Camera

Got a new camera to use for special occasions. I say special occasions because the film is equal to about two dollars a shot. I'm going to try out Impossible film in the silvershade black frame flavor.

Finally put together a small portfolio in print form. I wanted to have something with a few favorite shots I could hand to someone and let them see the photos in print form. I used Blurb booksmart 3 and love how easy, and how much customization the books have.
